Casa Raia, Rosso di Montalcino, Tuscany 2010
Sangiovese Grosso planted in 1975. Aged 4 years in barriques and 5 months in bottle. This is a pale, elegant, hauntingly subtle wine, made without sulphur dioxide, but not showing any oxidation whatsoever. Silky, subtle and judiciously oaked, this has savoury tannins and impressive length Youthful mid ruby. Sweet bright spicy red fruit with top notes of candied peel. Lovely sweet fruit shot through by tangy acidity. Unpolished and genuine.
